Transcription converts speech into a written document. It’s most common for medical, political and legal sectors to require transcription services, however, businesses can require transcription services for disciplinary or HR purposes. Woodfield Language Services can provide foreign language transcription services – either a direct transcription where the spoken language will be written in the language of the audio, or a two-stage transcription process where the spoken text is first transcribed by a linguist and then translated into a second language for the end user.
The transcription process is usually carried out using audio files, but transcription can also be completed from links to good quality, clear audio recordings online, such as podcasts. There are several options for transcription, depending on your needs; time-coded, minuted (a shortened transcription in past tense, third person), verbatim (word-for-word including pauses, interruptions, hesitations), tidied-up/edited (more of a summary of the main points, carefully edited to capture the important aspects). It all depends on the end purpose for your transcription.
Pricing for direct transcription is calculated per audio minute and although we have a standard price list, there can be factors affecting this, such as the quality of the audio recording. Two-stage transcription will be priced per audio minute for the transcription and per word for the translation element. Contact us to discuss your transcription project!
You may also consider voiceover or subtitling after transcription, if you have a video or media presentation you are using to target your market or reach out to your business partners. Speak to one of our friendly team to explore the options!
